Isolation, combined with the closure of many gyms, has made it much more difficult to exercise. We’re all working from home, resulting in us missing out on that vital exercise we took for granted everyday - running for the tram or walking up stairs at work have now become 8 hours of sitting down, with the only exercise most people are getting is walking to the fridge and back.

We’ve decided that it's time to start getting back into routine and begin exercising again to prepare for summer! So we’ve collected some simple ideas to get you started.

Here are some top tips to staying fit during this time:

  1. Focus on hydration
More water = faster recovery. Your body is 70% water so in order to recover properly from a workout, make sure you're drinking between 2-3 litres of water every single day.

  2. Train with your roommates
When you train with someone, they are able to keep you accountable and you can do the same for them. It's also a great motivation knowing that you have someone you can rely on to keep you going to reach your fitness goals. If you don't have any roommates who are into fitness, get them to meet you for a coffee and a chat after, it'll be a reward for you finishing your workout.

  3. Be consistent
When you start training again, after having some time off, it can be hard to be consistent with working out again. By creating a routine that you can stick to every day, starting off small and building up, you will see a massive improvement in your mental and physical wellbeing.

  4. The right equipment
By using the right equipment, you'll be able to reach your goals much faster. The market is saturated with equipment that is flimsy or difficult to use. Only Fitness has a range of equipment that can help take your training to the next level.

  5. Make it a priority
The problem that comes with working out is that life usually has other plans! A busy schedule combined with other life factors can often result in forgetting or skipping your workout. Make sure you prioritise your health during this time, it's important.

We know it's hard, and working out can suck! But once you understand the importance of it and how much it can affect your mood and your physical wellbeing, you won't want to stop!
