From 11.59pm on the 22nd of July 2020, Dan Andrews has announced that it will be compulsory for Victorians to wear masks when leaving the house.

Those who wish to disobey will face (see what we did there) hefty fines of $200Unfortunately though, we’re all a little confused about what we’re actually allowed to do. Can the masks be disposable? Are we allowed a durry at the park? Do I need to drink my coffee through a straw?
These are some of the questions that keep us up at night...So we’ve decided to break it down for you guys:

When don’t you need to wear a face mask?

Vigorous Exercise
We’re talking jogging, cycling, or running.

Certain Communication
In regards to people who are hearing impaired, where seeing the mouth is ABSOLUTELY essential for communication between people.

Relevant Medical Conditions
Including: breathing conditions, a serious skin condition, a disability or serious mental health conditions.

Food, Drinks or Medication
Melbournians are allowed to take their masks off while consuming food, drink, or medication when outdoors.

Smoking and Vaping
- Yes Brucy, this also applies to smoko.

When Driving 

Only if you're alone or with the people you live with. 

Infants and Children
Under the age of 12 years.

Certain Workplaces
If wearing a face covering creates a risk to your health or safety at work you don't have to wear a mask. This also applies to you if your workplace requires visibility of your mouth.

If Asked by Police
You don’t have to wear a mask when directed by police to remove the face covering so they may identify you.

At the Dentist
Pretty self explanatory.

During Emergencies
Pretty self explanatory. 


THINGS THAT REQUIRE A MASK:
Everything else. 

However, regardless of the above, you must carry a mask at ALL times.
